Force Re-consent by Changing the Cookie Name

If you’ve made updates to your cookie policy and want all visitors to see the cookie banner again, you can simply change the cookie name in the plugin settings. This ensures that previously stored consent is no longer valid, and users are prompted to re-accept the new policy.

How It Works

The plugin stores a cookie in the visitor’s browser once they accept the policy. If you change the cookie name (e.g. from allowCookiesWeb357January2024 to allowCookiesWeb357June2025), the previous cookie is ignored, and the banner is shown again—even to users who had previously accepted.

Steps to Update the Cookie Name

  1. Go to your Joomla backend.
  2. Navigate to Plugins > System - Web357 Cookies Policy Notification Bar.
  3. Open the Base Settings tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Cookie Name field.
  5. Change the cookie name (e.g. allowCookiesWeb357June2025).
  6. Click Save.

📌 Tip: Use a meaningful name that includes the month/year of the update so you can track when re-consent was triggered.
