How to Check the Status of Consent Mode on Your Joomla! Website Using a Chrome Extension
It's important to ensure that Google Consent Mode is functioning properly on your Joomla! website. While there are several tools available, we recommend using the Consent Mode Inspector by InfoTrust Chrome extension for a quick and simple check.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Before You Begin
Make sure you've configured Consent Mode on your Joomla site by following the setup guide.
Step 1: Install the Chrome Extension
- Install the "Consent Mode Inspector by InfoTrust" Chrome extension. You can find it in the Chrome Web Store or via this link
- Once installed, the extension's icon will appear in the Chrome toolbar.
Step 2: Check the Consent Mode Status
- Open your Joomla! website in Chrome.
- Click the Consent Mode Inspector icon in your toolbar (see the screenshot below).
- The extension will display the current Consent Mode status.
- Active: Indicates Consent Mode is working as expected.
- Default State: "denied": This is the status before any user consent is provided.

Step 3: Check Consent Status After User Action
- After Consent: Once a user gives their consent, the Consent Mode Inspector should reflect the updated status.
- Consent given: Tracking features are enabled based on the user’s consent.
- After Decline: If a user declines to consent, the Consent Mode will remain restricted per GDPR requirements.
- Consent denied: Tracking features remain disabled.
